Hello, Is it normal to experience ear during flights? A few weeks back I went for an office meeting on a flight. I experienced excruciating pain in my ears during flight and even after landing, I had pain in my ears. Does everyone experience this on flights? If yes, then what can I do to relieve it?

@malik Hello, it is known as airplane ear. The airplane ear is that temporary discomfort inside your ear while you're flying, usually during rapid changes in altitude during the flight. Caused by the change in air pressure inside the cabin, airplane ear can be relieved by a few things. air pressure inside and outside the ears is the same. However, when a plane takes off or starts its descent to land, the rapid change in altitude changes the air pressure inside the cabin. Airplane ear is quite common, but it affects everyone differently. Here are a few things that you do-
- Chew gum while taking off
- Swallow and yawn
- Blow your nose
- Use earplugs
Thanks!
