Does shaking your legs help prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) on long flights?
Hello, Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that develops within a deep vein in the body, usually in the leg. It can cause pain and swelling in the leg and may lead to complications such as pulmonary embolism. Prevention of Deep vein thrombosis includes exercises that improve blood circulation and further prevent the formation of blood clots. I am 23 years old male. I am captain and usually on long flights. I heard my fellow crew members saying about DVT. Shaking will improve blood circulation which will prevent DVT. Does shaking your legs help prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) on long flights?
@terrance Hello, not shaking legs but during long flights, you can take breaks to improve blood circulation. Include certain exercises in your daily routine to prevent DVT. Another important way to prevent DVT is simply to move more even if it's just working some simple leg exercises and stretches into your day. Take a balanced diet, exercise, and do not smoke. Thanks.
