Hello, changes in the body during pregnancy increase the risk of hemorrhoids. During pregnancy females get hemorrhoids in the third trimester of their pregnancy. Increased blood flow to the pelvic area, as well as pressure from the enlarging uterus and growing baby, can cause the veins that run through the anus to swell. As bowl movement slows down during pregnancy, constipation can also cause hemorrhoids. What can one do to prevent hemorrhoids during pregnancy?

@kelsey Hello there are two types of hemorrhoids- internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids. You can try to reduce hemorrhoids or prevent them from developing in several ways. Eat fiber-rich food, Drink plenty of water to help keep your stools soft, Avoid straining when using the toilet, Avoid sitting on the toilet for long periods of time, exercise, and Pass a bowel movement as soon as you feel it coming. Contact your doctor if you have any symptoms like painful bowel movements, burning, and swelling.
