What should I do after a cat bite?
Hello, recently I bought a cat although she is fully vaccinated but what should I do if she bites anyone in my house. Cat bites with infections can become not only painful, but also red or discolored, and swollen. If left untreated, cat bite infections can spread to other parts of the body, causing a condition called septicemia (blood poisoning), which requires hospitalization. Cat bite can't be taken for granted, please suggest what is the first thing one should do after a cat bite. Thank You.
@le Cat and dog bites are common injuries. After a cat bite, you should wash the wound gently with soap and water,
- Apply pressure with a clean towel to the injured area to stop any bleeding.
- Apply a sterile bandage to the wound.
- Keep the wound elevated above your heart to prevent swelling and infection.
- If the bleeding doesn’t stop you may require additional medical attention.
