When does postpartum hair loss start?
-
Hello, I am 28 years old female. I am in my second trimester. I heard a lot of women experience hair loss after postpartum. An increase in estrogen in the body changes your hair growth cycle. Hair remains in a growing phase longer during your pregnancy instead of shifting to a resting stage after postpartum The drop in estrogen triggers your hair to go back to the cycle of growth, resting, and falling out which leads to hair loss. Can anyone tell when does hair loss start? I mean it starts just after having a baby or later?

@barry Hello, it doesn’t happen immediately after the baby is born. The noticeable hair loss can come after most other postpartum symptoms have passed, with peak hair loss around four to five months postpartum. You can't prevent postpartum hair loss. It's a normal part of the recovery from pregnancy. Eat well and continue to take your prenatal vitamins to ensure that your body (is getting all of the nutrients it needs.
