Hello, Diverticular disease and diverticulitis are related digestive conditions that often affect the large intestine. Symptoms are lower abdomen pain and bloating. The large intestine becomes weaker with age and the pressure of hard stools passing through the large intestine. Stress directly influences bowel movements by affecting bodily processes. Are these related? Is stress associated with diverticulitis and diverticulitis diseases?

@xolani Diverticular disease is one of the most common digestive conditions. Much research is needed to confirm that stress and diverticular diseases are related to each other. The effects of stress are usually attributed to other painful conditions like ulcers or even a heart attack. Diverticular diseases are usually associated with not eating enough fiber. Fiber makes your stools softer and larger, so less pressure is needed by your large intestine to push them out of your body. There is currently no clinical evidence to prove the link between fiber and diverticular diseases but a change in eating can improve the condition.
