Hello, today I came to know about Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM), which is a serious medical neurologic condition. In AFM the muscles and reflexes in the body become weak. It can cause sudden weakness in the arms or legs, loss of muscle tone, and loss of reflexes. The condition mainly affects young children. One of my friend's sisters has been diagnosed with this condition. Can anyone tell me what causes Acute Flaccid Myelitis?

@octavey Hello, Acute flaccid myelitis is caused by the virus enterovirus. Acute flaccid myelitis causes the muscles and reflexes in the body to become weak. Non-polio enteroviruses are also linked to AFM. Prior to the weakness setting in, the person with AFM often has symptoms of a cold-like illness, with fever and breathing issues.
