Hello, I am 22 years old female. I have been suffering from acne for the last 9 months so I decided to talk to a dermatologist. My acne used to get better one day but the next day inflammation started. I was confused why I was having breakouts suddenly. My doctor asked me to take a blood test and then he prescribed me amoxicillin to treat my acne. Is it safe to take amoxicillin? Can I take amoxicillin for acne?

@eleanor-0 Hello, Yes amoxicillin is considered a second-line treatment for medium to severe acne. I think you have inflammatory acne in which amoxicillin will be helpful. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat infections. Since acne is often caused due to hormonal changes, excess sebum, and bacteria, amoxicillin may help manage the skin condition. Thank You!
