What can I do to prevent thyroid?
Hello, the thyroid is an autoimmune disorder. Thyroid runs in my family my mother, my aunt (maternal aunt) and my sister suffers from thyroid. My sister suffers from hypothyroidism due to which she is suffering from issues like hair fall and weight gain. Thyroid disease is often hereditary which is why I am worried. What can I do to prevent it? I am 19 years old female. Please suggest what should I do to reduce the chances of getting thyroid in the future. Thank You!
@ila Hello, genes play a major role and in many cases it is hereditary. Here are the things that you can do to prevent thyroid disease: If you smoke then you should stop smoking, eat less soy, do a regular thyroid neck test, get celiac disease diagnosed, visit the doctor regularly, ask your doctor if you can take selenium supplements, keep a check on iodine and potassium level. Your thyroid needs iodine to function. Thanks!
