Effects of anxiety, depression, and stress during pregnancy.

According to studies milder forms of maternal stress or anxiety during pregnancy affect the fetus causing possible long-term consequences for infant and child development. A growing body of research indicates that maternal stress during pregnancy exerts a strong influence on the development of the unborn. I am 27 years old woman and two months pregnant. Why should I avoid stress during pregnancy? What are the effects of anxiety, depression, and stress during pregnancy?

@zaira Stress is a common feeling during pregnancy. You should avoid stress during pregnancy as it can increase the risk of high blood pressure, and lead to problems like premature birth. During pregnancy, stress can increase the chances of having a premature baby or low weight baby. Some studies show that high levels of stress in pregnancy may cause certain problems during childhood, like having trouble paying attention or being afraid. It’s possible that stress also may affect your baby’s brain development or immune system. Try relaxation activities, like prenatal yoga or meditation. They can help you manage stress and prepare for labor and birth. Try to talk to your therapist. Thanks!
