How is rebound hyperglycemia treated?
-
Hello, my grandfather's sugar is high but pp is normal. Why? It happens during normally, I did some research about it. High blood sugar in the morning may be caused by the Somogyi effect. Common reasons for high blood sugar in the morning include high-carb bedtime snacks and not enough diabetes medications. What can be done to treat it? Please suggest how it can be treated?

@dagan Yes, The Somogyi effect leads to high blood glucose levels in people with diabetes. It happens when low blood sugar triggers a rebound effect, leading to high blood sugar. The only way to prevent the Somogyi effect is to keep blood sugar levels stable through effective glucose management. Adjusting the timing of insulin administration, lowering the dose of insulin before bed, changing the type of insulin, eating a snack with the evening insulin dosage, and changing lifestyle. Thanks!
