The left side of the abdomen hurts after exercise or any other form of physical activity. Why?

Hello, I am 22 years old female. The left side of my abdomen hurts every time I perform any sort of physical activity like exercise or anything. I used to have pain on the left side of my abdomen when I was very young every time I used to dance but I ignored it at that time but now I think it is serious. Can anyone tell me why the left side of the abdomen hurts after exercise or any other form of physical activity?

@tiletha Hello, Pain in the sides of the abdomen, also known as side stitches. Side stitch is also referred to as exercise-related transient abdominal pain (ETAP). It is a sharp and stabbing pain felt on either side of your abdomen, mostly on the right side. It is generally experienced during prolonged athletic activities, such as running, basketball, or cardio workout. The main cause of side stitches is unknown. The most common theory is that the increased blood flow in the liver and spleen during intense cardio movement causes pain on the sides of the abdomen. The other reason according to the studies is pain is caused by internal organs while pulling down the diaphragm. The pain is also believed to be caused due to irritation in the lining of the abdominal and pelvic cavity. Thanks!
