How can I increase platelet count naturally?
I am 25 years old female. I am 6 months pregnant and had a blood test done. I have low platelets, and my doctor asked me to take care of my diet as it was not too low and can be still managed. I used to feel tired all the time. Platelets play an important role in clotting and bleeding. Platelets are made in the bone marrow similar to other cells in the blood. I asked my gynecologist she said platelet count drops below normal levels during pregnancy, and it's a common pregnancy condition called gestational thrombocytopenia. It affects about one pregnant woman in 10 and usually develops in mid to late pregnancy. Please tell me what can I do to increase platelet count naturally?
@priscila Hello, It's normal for your platelet count to dip by a few thousand during pregnancy, due in part to hemodilution: the body makes more plasma during pregnancy, so the total number of platelets per volume of blood will be lower. Platelets are red blood cells that help promote clotting, an important function that prevents serious bleeding. Here are a few things that will be helpful- include more leafy vegetables in your diet, fatty fish, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, liver, and beans, eat more citrus fruits, and take iron-rich food. Iron plays a vital role in red blood cell production, which includes platelets. Boosting your iron intake can help you raise your platelet levels naturally. Thanks!
