In pain after a week of knee arthroscopy. How long it will take to recover?
-
Hello. I had my knee arthroscopy done last week. It’s almost been a week and I'm still in a lot of pain and can barely put any weight on it. Is this normal? I'm tired, I am hurting this bad or others are saying I shouldn't be hurting a week after. I'm seriously in a lot of pain that my pain medications are barely helping. Is it common to experience this much pain after knee arthroscopy? How long it will take to recover?

@hillel Hello, I am sorry to hear you're suffering from the pain. I'd suggest you discuss your painkillers with your GP, a little stronger painkiller prescription can be good short term. You will probably need about 6 weeks to recover. The pain settles usually within two to three weeks but may take upwards of six weeks. If your doctor repairs damaged tissue, recovery will take longer. Be sure to do the physio because this is what will ultimately help the pain. Thanks!
