My blood sugar went from 5 mmo/L to 7.1 mmo/L in one hour.

Hello, today morning I went for a walk, it was a hot summer day. I've been taking my BS because I often feel fatigued about once a week. I felt the same way after the walk so Check BS at 5.0 mmo/L. I drank orange tea and an hour later check it was 7.1 mmp/L. How? Is my test unit faulty or what? Please suggest!! Thank You.

@baz Hello, An A1c level of 7.1 percent is considered high and means that 7.1% of the hemoglobin in your blood is saturated with sugar. A1c levels of 6.5 or greater are considered diabetes. If your A1c is high, a combination of diet and lifestyle changes and medications can help you lower your levels. I think the orange caused the spike. Test before eating and 2 hours after to get the correct numbers. If you have an active lifestyle then this is pretty good but if passive then you should be more cautious about your health. Try to adopt a healthy lifestyle by adding a few aerobic exercises and diabetic food meals. Do this regularly and religiously. Also, it is best to take the proper tests. Thanks!
