Hello, I am a type-2 diabetic currently controlled on metformin. My feet swell very badly after just standing for 5 or 10 minutes, taking a shower, brushing my teeth, anything. They swell and turn bright red/purple, and have a burning sensation, if I touch them they will start itching and where I scratch will turn white. The swelling stops at about the ankles. Can anyone help me with this?

@barri Hello, Please consult a doctor. These may be early symptoms of diabetic neuropathy. Burning pain and swelling call forth for a neurological opinion and a podiatrist opinion. Check your feet daily with a mirror to look out for any ulceration. Wash your feet with warm water and dry them. Make sure you do not cut corns or calluses. Most important keep your blood sugar at normal levels with your physician's help. Get a urine microalbumin test too. If it persists a course of B-complex vitamins could be tried. Thanks!
