Hello, I am 16 years old and have been getting irregular periods. My first one was at the age of fourteen. I have also begun to get a lot of facial hair around the upper lip, chin and now it seems as if I have grown a beard. I also weigh about 64kg. I am very concerned about my health. what should I do? could I have Polycystic ovary syndrome? And would electrolysis be safe to get rid of my facial hair?

@mese Hello, excessive hair growth is called as Hirsutism. Hirsutism may be caused by: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This condition, which often begins with puberty, causes an imbalance of sex hormones. Over years, PCOS may slowly result in excess hair growth, irregular periods, obesity, infertility and sometimes multiple cysts on the ovaries. I would advise you to see a doctor about this - OB/GYN, internal medicine, or endocrinologist. Electrolysis is a safe treatment for excessive hair. Thank You!
