Hello, I have noticed a lump under my chin, centered between my lower jawbones. this lump is very painful and if I look up it feels like stretching a pulled muscle. I am very worried about it. Can anyone tell me what this could be and what I should do? I have had it for 2 days now, and it seems to be getting more painful. I had a cold sore earlier. What could be causing it? Please help!!! I am 29 years old male.

@aitlin Hello, I think it is an enlarged salivary gland. As you said you got a cold sore a few days back, maybe bacterial which infected the gland thus the enlargement and tenderness happened. Sialadenitis is an inflammation of a salivary gland. Salivary glands are the glands that make saliva, which helps with swallowing and digestion and protects your teeth from bacteria. Sialadenitis is usually caused by a virus or bacteria. Poor oral hygiene can contribute to getting sialadenitis. Talk to your doctor he will prescribe you an antibiotic. Thanks!
