Should I see a doctor for heartburn and diarrhea during pregnancy? Could it be a symptom of preterm labor?

Hello, I am 23 years old. I’m 24 weeks pregnant and have been getting heartburn a lot more frequently in the last couple of weeks. I’ve also been very constipated my whole pregnancy. tonight, I woke up feeling nauseous and had bad diarrhea with heartburn. After about 10 minutes of diarrhea, it for the most part went away along with nausea. Should I let it go since I’m feeling better or go see my doctor? Could it be a symptom of preterm labor? I’m super worried because I haven’t had diarrhea or nausea like that at all this pregnancy and it didn’t last long at all. Please suggest. Thanks!

@kaila Hello, you should make an appointment. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause digestive issues, such as diarrhea, constipation, and gas. However, diarrhea during pregnancy can also result from a bowel infection or underlying bowel disorder. Diarrhea is a very common condition that can affect anyone, including women who are pregnant. During pregnancy, diarrhea may arise from hormonal or physical changes. However, it can also be unrelated to pregnancy and result from an infection or underlying bowel disorder. Diarrhea can lead to severe dehydration and malnutrition, which can be harmful to the woman and fetus. Yes, it's unpleasant, but heartburn and diarrhea can mean you're that much closer to meeting your baby. In addition to diarrhea, you may also experience any (or all) of the following signs of labor as you enter the home stretch of your pregnancy: Menstrual-like cramps. Heartburn. It is better to consult a doctor. Thanks!
