Is there a chance that you will develop type 2 diabetes later in life after having gestational diabetes? What advice would you give to someone who is cleared gestational diabetes for now, but wants to prevent complications in the future?

Gestational diabetes will get cleared of diabetes after pregnancy, but should you still be careful what you eat after? Did you know that there is a chance that you will develop type 2 diabetes later in life after having gestational diabetes? How to help manage your health after pregnancy so you don't have to deal with a type 2 diagnosis later? What advice would you give to someone who is cleared for now, but wants to prevent complications in the future?

@illiana Hello, It is not always possible to prevent gestational diabetes. Certain risk factors make it more likely that a woman will develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. However, maintaining a healthy weight before and after conception, eating well, and exercising regularly during pregnancy can all reduce the risk. Both type 1 and type 2 are possible following gestational diabetes. regular monitoring, and following lower carb diet, weught normalisation, exercise are all part.of the management plan. Thank You.
