Hello, I am a 15-year-old girl and almost a week ago my hip popped while I was stretching. I’ve tried having baths but it still really hurts. Eventually, it got better but then it popped again the other day as well as today while I was dancing at a dance competition. It now really hurts to walk and to sit without it almost fully extended as well as to put pressure on it. The pain feels pretty deep. and I don't know what may have happened to it. What should I do to help?

@abio Hello, it seems like you have iliopsoas tendonitis. Iliopsoas tendinopathy refers to a condition that affects the insertion of the muscle on the femur and can occur with repetitive hip flexion and other deficits of the biomechanical system resulting in chronic degenerative changes of the tendon. It is much like you are describing, the condition presents with a popping/snapping sensation and the audible sound of the hip when extended or flexed. Pain and inflammation usually ensue. The treatment involves resting and icing the affected area while maintaining adequate hydration. You may take ibuprofen to control the pain. In addition, you should avoid strenuous activity or exercise such as running, weight lifting, and sports. If the symptoms do not resolve or worsen, you should be evaluated by your primary care doctor.
