Can diabetes be controlled without medicine?
-
Hi,
I just recently got diagnosed with diabetes, at first A1C TEST, it was 10.3. Last month with eating changes, exercise, and metformin, it dropped to 6.9.
Now my daily reading is in the 109's to 119's. If my numbers are good, I don't take the metformin, because it seems like the diet/walking is working. Are there people who are "diabetic" but don't take medicines for it? -
@david Hello, You have type2 diabetes characterized by insulin resistance in the cells. This can be due to obesity. The body tries to produce more insulin but fails. One way is to reduce insulin resistance by exercise, and diet. if you are able to get adequate control medicines may not be required. But regular monitoring is a must.
