Is there any side effect of insulin?
-
Hello, I have been taking diabetes meds for about 2 years. These medications most of them make me feel tired and don’t work. I developed an itch on my right side that kept getting worse after taking medication, so I quit taking it. It did work and had brought my Ha1c but their website says to stop taking it if you develop a rash or severe it. Anyway, I have been told insulin doesn’t have side effects because it is natural. Is this true? Should I consider taking it?

@aby Human insulin is used to take the place of insulin that is normally produced by the body. It works by helping move sugar from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. It also stops the liver from producing more sugar. All of the types of insulin that are available work in this way. The types of insulin differ only in how quickly they begin to work and how long they continue to control blood sugar. Human insulin may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: redness, swelling, and itching at the injection site, changes in the feel of your skin, skin thickening (fat build-up), or a little depression in the skin (fat breakdown), weight gain, and constipation. Over time, people who have diabetes and high blood sugar can develop serious or life-threatening complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, nerve damage, and eye problems. It is important to manage it. Thanks!!
