Hello, I am 49 years old female. For a few hours, I experienced irregular heartbeats that sort of travel up to my brain (I could feel it in waves) making me dizzier and dizzier until I fainted. I'm fine now but it really rattled me and I was wondering if I should be really worried. Can anyone tell me what should I do? Should I see a doctor as I am fine now? Please suggest!!! Thanks.

@lene Hello, it is recommended to see a doctor and get all tests like EKG, echocardiogram, and possibly tilt-table test, just to determine what may have happened. It could Heart rhythm problems, called arrhythmias, can cause a few types of symptoms. These symptoms happen because the heart isn't beating regularly or may not be pumping blood as well as normal. Some of these symptoms include palpitations, light-headedness, fainting, and shortness of breath. Fainting is never good, even if it's due to a basically harmless cause since one can bang one's head on something on the way down. Other than that we'd want to know just what caused this, and anything of a serious nature should be readily detectable via the EKG and echocardiogram.
