Cold intolerance, fatigue- are these signs of hypothyroidism?
-
Hello, my sister in law, Neha is a 33-year-old woman who presents with complaints of fatigue requiring daytime naps, weight gain, cold intolerance, and muscle weakness for the last few months. These complaints are new since she used to always feel “hot,” noted difficulty sleeping, and could eat anything that she wanted without gaining weight. She also would like to become pregnant in the near future. Are these signs of hypothyroidism?

@Snita Hello, the signs you have mentioned here, indicate an underactive thyroid. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) is usually treated by taking daily hormone replacement tablets called levothyroxine. Levothyroxine replaces the thyroxine hormone, which your thyroid does not make enough of. Ask your patient to have regular blood tests until the correct dose of levothyroxine is reached. This can take a little while to get right. You can refer to natural remedies also. The goal of natural remedies or alternative medicine is to fix the root cause of the thyroid problem. Thyroid problems sometimes start as the result of: missing nutrients in your body, poor diet and stress. According to National Institute of Health selenium containing foods are good for this problems.
