Is prenatal vitamins safe for hair growth?
-
Hello, I am taking prenatal vitamins to increase my hair growth because over the past year my hair has become noticeably thin. I just started last night so I want to make sure it is safe before I continue. I am also wondering if you would recommend this to be something that actually works? What is recommended? Please let me know what should I do?

@nllian Hello, Prenatal vitamins are essential to fetal development, and the micronutrients they provide definitely help with hair and nail growth in an individual who is deficient. However, there is no proof that continuing to take them after pregnancy lengthens the hair. There are very few products that actually are effective in hair growth. There are some other topical products available through the salons as well but taking a prenatal (or any multivitamin) does not hurt and may do good if it is a nutritional deficiency causing the problem. But, these are not miracles or even sure cures for hair loss. Good vitamin is always a good idea, especially for young women of childbearing years. It is better to consult a doctor before taking any supplement. Thanks!!
