Hello, I have realized that I often get migraine pain before my periods. Can anyone tell me why I get migraine pain before my period? My period flow is normal and I don’t get severe cramps or back pain. Please tell me why do I get migraine pain before my period? Is it common? How can I treat it?

@yn Hello, During menstruation. The drop in estrogen just before your period might contribute to headaches. Many women with migraines report headaches before or during menstruation. Your menstrual-related migraines can be treated in several ways. A headache before your period can be caused by hormones and serotonin. Premenstrual headaches are usually caused by the decrease in estrogen and progesterone that happens before your period begins. Serotonin also plays a role in headaches. When there’s lesser serotonin in your brain, blood vessels can constrict, leading to headaches. Before your period, the levels of serotonin in your brain may decrease as estrogen levels decrease, contributing to symptoms of PMS. If your serotonin levels decrease during your menstrual cycle, you’re more likely to experience headaches. try- Cold compresses, and Relaxation techniques like medication. Thanks.
