Severe gastritis - should I be worried?
-
I was 'sort of diagnosed' with gastritis 2 months ago.
I developed a twitchy, crampy pain in my upper central abdomen and a little to the right. other symptoms include: bloating, feeling full, burping, and pain above the belly button. stool and urine output is normal.my doctor has not done any tests and says it's just severe gastritis.
should I be worried? recovery seems to be very slow. I don't really know how to take care of myself. any treatment advice? -
@anastashia I’m sorry you are going through this.
basically, stress and anxiety can definitely bring it on because stress and anxiety cause acid release into the stomach. So if you’re going through something in your life you might want to think about counseling to find ways to reduce the stress.
secondly, avoid acidic foods and drinks! You will want to eat foods that are more alkaline rather than acidic. You can go online and look those foods up. Stay away from junk food, pop, red meats, etc. eat more of the fresh vegetables, very lean chicken, etc all online.
it’s better to eat five small meals a day rather than three large meals! Healthy alkaline snacks can count for one of the five small meals in between.
stay hydrated by drinking lots of water throughout the day! I switched from regular milk to unsweetened almond milk. It’s easier on the stomach. Also, unsweetened coconut milk is very good for you.
get a little exercise even if it’s just walking.
