Well-Adjusted Dads Equal Better-Behaved Children

Children are less likely to have behavioral problems in their preteen years if their fathers enjoyed parenthood and were confident in the role when their children were infants, new research shows. Drawing on a large UK longitudinal cohort of children born 25 years ago, the team found that behavioral scores at ages 9 and 11 years were significantly lower if fathers were well-adjusted to their role and had a good emotional response to the experience when their child was 8 months old. However, the degree of direct involvement in childcare activities by fathers had no impact on later behavioral scores.

@kuheli Some of these might be behavioral, perhaps. Some of them might be interventions involving the amount of time they spend in work relative to the amount of time they spend with their families, and so on...also, information on how to access the family support services when they need them
