      Hi I m 5 months pregnant I have very low HB,due to that doctor has prescribed me to take iron injection through IV. Have any one taken iron injection during pregnancy.Will there be any side effects>I m nervous Please suggest.

        @namratha During pregnancy, you need double the amount of iron that nonpregnant women need. Your body needs this iron to make more blood to supply oxygen to your baby.

        Good nutrition also can prevent iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy. Dietary sources of iron include lean red meat, poultry, and fish. Other options include iron-fortified breakfast cereals, prune juice, dried beans, and peas.

        Please do as your doctor suggests.There will be no side effects taking iron through IV
