Hello, my daughter got fungal infection on her toe nails and finger nails. She is 12 years old and healthy, no other complication is there by the God's grace. We went to see a doctor and he prescribed medicines for onychomycosis. He did not listen to us much and did not examine my daughter properly as there was a long que. So I am little skeptical of giving those medicines to my daughter. Please suggest me what is onychomycosis and how to cure.

@sreejon Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the toenails or fingernails that may involve any component of the nail unit, including the matrix, bed, or plate. Onychomycosis can cause pain, discomfort, and disfigurement and may produce serious physical limitations, as well as reducing quality of life. Treatment of onychomycosis depends on the clinical type of the onychomycosis, the number of affected nails, and the severity of nail involvement. A combination of systemic and topical treatment increases the cure rate. Because the rate of recurrence remains high, even with newer agents, the decision to treat should be made with a clear understanding of the cost and risks involved, as well as the risk of recurrence
